Small Expressions 2022 Annual Touring Exhibit of Small Scale Works

“Small Expressions 2022 reflects the vibrant depth and breadth of contemporary textile art. The intimate scale of each work in the exhibit invites close and careful examination by the viewer, who will experience an artist’s intention through a variety of materials and techniques. Fiber is an expressive medium with a rich and complex history, and it is my hope that the pieces selected for this exhibit will inspire contemplation and thoughtful conversation. “

Produced by the Handweavers Guild of America, Small Expressions is an annual juried exhibition showcasing contemporary small-scale works using fiber techniques in any media.

In addition to jurying this exhibit, Cameron selected prize winners and presented a juror’s talk at HGA Convergence 2022 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The exhibit opened at the University of Tennessee Downtown Gallery in Knoxville on July 13, 2022, and traveled throughout the country.

Fiberworks 2017

Hardesty Arts Center, Tulsa Oklahoma

“FiberWorks 2017 is an exuberant expression of contemporary fiber art featuring work by a talented group of artists with diverse points of view. Some works are more conceptual in nature while others are grounded in materials and technique. Fiber in all its forms is deeply connected to the very tissue of our society - and we respond accordingly. In this spirit, the viewer is invited to interpret the exhibit through the prism of  “material culture” while also experiencing FiberWorks 2017 as a wonderfully eclectic celebration of color, texture and pattern.”

In addition to jurying the exhibit, Cameron provided written critiques to all entrants, selected the prize winners, presented a lecture and led a walkthrough of the exhibit.
